Safety Plan Addendum from Maclay Gardens State Park

We're all familiar with Maclay's Guidelines for Use of Facilities, but they've recently introduced a Safety Plan Addendum to address COVID-19 restrictions. Read all about it:

SAFETY PLAN

1. The Permittee (CCR) agrees to require its Crew Team Members to comply with all of the following safety protocols beginning immediately and for the duration of the Permit.

a. All Members will follow School Guidelines for COVID safety as directed in: https://www.maclay.org/campus-life/covid-19 b. All Members will follow DRP Safety Guidelines as directed and posted by Park Management, including the following:

i) Any Member who feels ill MUST STAY HOME. ii) If a Member starts to feel ill at the park, notify the coordinator, and leave the premises. iii) If any Member is diagnosed with COVID-19 all visits to the park will cease, and Member will self-quarantine for 14 days and will get COVID-19 test when available. iv) Social Distancing according to CDC GUIDELINES.

2. All Members are required to perform the following Self-Screening protocol before each entry to the State Park.

A. Self-Screening: All Members shall answer three self-screening questions prior to participation:

1) Are you experiencing symptoms?

a. Symptoms may appear within 2-14 days after exposure to the virus b. These symptoms may include fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea

2) Have you recently traveled outside of Florida to an area of substantial community spread?

a. Visit floridahealthcovid19.gov/travelers for more information regarding travel. Refer to the State and Local travel restrictions or orders section.

3) Have you been around someone diagnosed with COVID-19?

a. Defined as: Someone who was within 6 feet of an infected person for at least 15 minutes starting from 2 days before illness onset (or, for asymptomatic patients, 2 days prior to specimen collection) until the time the patient is isolated.

B. If a Member answers in the affirmative to any of the three questions, the Permittee agrees to follow the appropriate protocol provided below:

1) If a Member answers YES to question 1:

a. The Member will need to stay home until after they have gone 3 days with no fever, and their symptoms have improved and they have been symptom- free for a minimum of 10 days since symptoms first appeared and/or have obtained a medical release from their healthcare provider, or they have received a negative COVID-19 test result. b. All positive cases of COVID-19 are to be kept confidential and reported immediately to the Park Manager and Coach and the Safety and Health Officer. Contact tracing protocols will be performed, and cleaning protocols will be invoked. 2) If a Member answers YES to questions 2 or 3:

a. The Member will need to stay home for a period of 14 days and will be required to have a medical release from their personal healthcare provider before the Member may return to the workout, or a negative COVID-19 test result.

3. The Permittee agrees, for itself and its Members, to follow the additional DEP COVID- 19 Policies which are applicable during the term of the Permit:

1) Facial coverings: Members are required to wear facial coverings in areas where social distancing cannot be maintained or assured such as common areas, hallways, stairwells, restrooms and meeting rooms. Facial coverings will not be required in personal offices/areas or areas where social distancing can be maintained. 2) Social distancing: Members must practice social distancing by maintaining a minimum distance of 6 feet of separating. Coaches should take measures to ensure participants are spaced out so that safe social distancing can be maintained. If there are obstacles in being able to meet these guidelines, these concerns should be brought up to leadership as soon as possible so a solution can be identified. 3) Signage: Members shall adhere to all signage placed in the park promoting social distancing, educating participants on proper precautions and hygiene practices to prevent the spread of germs, outlining cleaning protocols in place, and identifying self-screening criteria for employees to assess before entering our buildings. This signage was developed based on guidelines from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Florida Department of Health (DOH). 4) Meetings: In-person meetings are strongly discouraged and should not occur when social distancing cannot be maintained. Teams are encouraged to conduct meetings by electronic means, by video conference or telephone. When in person meetings are necessary, ensure that the meeting is held in an area where adequate social distancing can be maintained and wear facial coverings when that is not possible. In accordance with Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Department’s Emergency Final Order requires DEP to hold all public meetings and hearings by electronic means and does not allow for in-person public meetings or hearings during the emergency. 5) Sports Team Protocols:

a. Ensure Coaches and Rowers wash hands with hand sanitizer with at least 60 percent alcohol b. Personal supplies (e.g., hats, sunscreen, brushes and contact lenses solutions) and drinking containers are never shared with others c. All equipment will be disinfected after practice to include oars and boats. Use hospital grade sanitizing solutions to disinfect, use and EPA-registered disinfectant that is active against coronaviruses and follow manufacturer’s instructions for use and contact time. Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces after practice d. Restrict coaches to one group of athletes. Groups will be required to follow current CDC or State guidelines.
